Jeremiah 32:17

17
"Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

God had already planned the Ministry of Jeremiah before he was born (Jeremiah 1:5). His message was for the nations to repent and turn back to the one true God, which is a message that still applies today.

Just recently a space craft that had been launched from the United States, seven years earlier, reached the planet Saturn. The cost of the mission was estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of ten billion dollars and took seven years to reach its destination. In an interview with one of the senior engineers on the project, he stated that this was going to help man find out more about how our universe was formed. Sadly, that money could have gone a long way to feed a mass of hungry people in the world and they (NASA), could go down to the nearest Christian Book store, or the internet, obtain a bible, and read Genesis chapters 1 and 2 along with the rest of God’s Word to learn the truth about how “God made the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).

The Book of Jerimiah speaks of the final warnings to the nation of Judah of the coming destruction, if they did not repent and turn back to God. Jesus is coming back to take His children home to be with Him, it is just a matter of time. The time is a mystery of God but the fact that He is coming back is not a mystery, it is foretold through the prophets of old as well as the writers of the New Testament. Jesus himself spoke of His second coming (Matthew 24:4-5; 23-27; 30-31;40-44; Luke 17:28-30; Luke 21:34-36; Matthew 25:1-13; 31-46; John 14:1-3; Mark8:38) as did the angels that were standing by Christ Jesus at His ascension (Acts 1:10-11)

Even with this truth of the Word of God, so easily accessible to all today, people are still trying to prove God to be a liar, when He will never lie (Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Hebrews 6:18; Psalm 89:35). Satan, the real liar, (John 8:44) has blinded so many today, with his allusions and false promises.

It is up to us today, Jesus’ followers, to reflect the Light of Christ to the world. It is true that God already knows who is going to be saved and who is not, He is omniscient. However, we do not have access to that information, so it is up to us to witness to the lost of the world. This witnessing includes not only just spreading the Word of God but also living our lives in a manner that we will be a good reflector for His Light (John 8:12) that shines before this lost, dark and dying world (2 Peter 3:10; Revelation 21:1-4).

Matthew 4:3-4

3
The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
4
Jesus answered, "It is written: ’Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ "

The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread: Satan told Jesus that, if He was the Son of God, this was not a doubt as to whether or not He was the Son of God, Satan knew this to be true. Satan was implying that since He was the Son of God He had the right and the power to satisfy His own needs.

The Israelites experienced hunger in the wilderness because God wanted to show them that obedience to God’s Word is the most important thing in life (Deuteronomy 8:2-3). The Children of Israel demanded bread while they were wandering in the wilderness and eventually died, Jesus declined to turn the stones into bread and lived. Satan’s objective was to shake the perfect trust Jesus had with the Father, and thusly change God’s plan of salvation.

Jesus answered: Jesus didn’t rebuke Satan or disagree with him, He simply answered Him, and His answer came straight from the Word of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). The proposition that Satan brought forth did make sense, why go through this time in the wilderness hungry, but what was written in God’s Holy Word made more sense. It was not that Jesus wanted to refuse supernatural help in satisfying His hunger, He accepted what the angels brought Him when the time of temptation was complete; it was willingly accepting the timing of the Father and surrendering to His will in all aspects of life. Sometimes we ask God for something and we want it in our time, this is a lesson from our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, about the importance of waiting on God and His time.

It is written: Jesus fought Satan, not with some supernatural power, that is not accessible to us. Jesus fought that battle with Satan with resources that are obtainable to us as well, the Word of God. Jesus could have stood against Satan with all the power of heaven (Matthew 26:53), but He chose to use the Word of God as His weapon. We will be successful in resisting the temptation of Satan the same way Jesus did, by casting that Light of God upon our enemy, Satan. If we are ignorant of what God is telling us in His word, then we will be inadequately armed when we have to fight our battles with Satan.

Philippians 2:9-11

9
Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name: This verse starts out with “therefore,” Consequently, it would be difficult to speak about this verse without knowing what the “therefore” was in reference to. Verse 8: “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!”  Therefore, because God the Son, Christ Jesus submitted Himself to the most extreme depth of humiliation, by going to the Cross, God the Father elevated Him to the highest standing of exaltation. This procedure encompassed the resurrection, ascension and glorification of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.: Today, in the secular existence, the name of Jesus has become somewhat of a taboo. We cannot talk about Jesus in our public schools, except in His historical context, and at our work places His name is mostly only used in a profane manner. There will come a day, however, that everyone will bow down to the mention of His name (Romans 14:11; Revelation 5:13-11)

John 15:9-10

9
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
10
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

Now remain in my love: There is not a single word or phrase that can portray the quality and character of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. He is filled with power, wisdom, truth, holiness, dedication, consecration, obedience, surrender, and dozens of other qualities. Out of the list of so many qualities Jesus told His disciples to “remain in my Love.” When we as the disciples of Jesus today, as it always has been, stay joined together with the love of Christ Jesus, our personal relationship with our Savior remains strong. This is by no means some sort of mystical occurrence, it boils down to simple obedience and surrender.

If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love: This statement of Jesus clearly explains the previous verse, that to remain in the love of Jesus is to keep His commandments (John 15:14; John 14:15). Jesus connected keeping His commandments with remaining in His Love as a sign of true discipleship.

just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love: Jesus accomplished this in honor of His Father by living a perfect sinless life and willingly and joyfully going to the Cross (Hebrews 12:12).  His disciples, that includes us today, must fulfill this honor, obedience and surrender to Him as well. When a disciple of Jesus fails to keep this commitment he or she will not enjoy the peace and joy that Christ desires for all of His children (John 14:27; John 16:33; Philippians 4:6-7; Romans 15:13; James 1:2-3; 1 Peter 1:8-9; 2 John 1:12; John 16:22; Roman 14:17).

There is no more miserable life than someone riding the fence between Jesus and Satan. They cannot enjoy the worldly life because they do not really seem at home there anymore, and they do not have the Joy and peace promised by our Lord and Savior, for those that are totally surrendered to Him. Their memories of the past life and the alluring and teasing words from the old music will thwart them from singing praises with the saints. This person that tries to live in the middle will forever be uncertain, undecided and unsure of the right paths to take, because the clarity of the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit of God will be clouded and interrupted.

James 1:21

21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

The moral filth James speaks of here appears to be the impure behavior that is not what the will of God would have for us. This would be the sinful and malicious habits that we carry over from our old life, outside of Christ Jesus (Psalms 17:4; Luke 6:45). The disciple of Christ should humbly submit to obedience and willingly and joyfully respond to the commands of Jesus.

Once this is accomplished there will be “good soil” by which the Word of God can grow in the life of the believer (Matthew 13:8). There will then be a “bumper crop” of virtuous behavior in the life of the one that is surrendered to Christ Jesus. When we take our petitions to the throne of God, we sometimes pray for protection from earthly dangers instead of purity, simply because we do not see the hazards and perils involved in impurity.

Colossians 2:9-10

9
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
10
and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

Colossians was one of the four “prison epistles” written by Paul while under house arrest in Rome. The Churches in Colossi was experiencing some of the same problems that we see in other books written by Paul, one being false teachers trying to make Christianity a part or sect of Judaism.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form: This speaks of the Trinity, Father, son and Holy Spirit, three, all being one. There were some that had said that Jesus was not fully God but one sent by God. This dispelled any misunderstanding that Jesus had given up His deity when He became a man, this continued throughout His earthly life and carried on in His resurrected bodily form. As disciples of Christ, we today are able to participate in this fullness of Christ, we will never have any need that Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus will not provide.

Paul was saying that there were no special emissions of the Glory of God that guided Jesus on His Earthly Ministry, but that he was, and always will be fully, completely and perfect God.

in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority: Paul is reassuring the churches at Colossi and in turn all of his readers down through the ages, that we have all the we will ever need in Christ. That we are complete in the love of Jesus and we will never have to seek any other false promises by those guided by Satan. This fullness in Christ, that we all today and down through the years, is not something that we have to work to try to realize or attain, but something that comes to us when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior (Ephesians 2:8-9). John also spoke of this same issue in his writings in 1 John 4:1-6.
